Meet Our Staff

Barbara Warren headshot

Barbara Warren / Executive Director

Barbara has led SSCW for 20 years. In addition to her role as ED, she is the Mass Bays National Estuary Regional Coordinator for the Lower North Shore. She has worked extensively with local municipalities on environmental issues on land and water and is sought-after as a speaker. Her special areas of interest are climate resiliency and nature-based solutions for climate adaptation. Barbara holds a BA from Wellesley College, MEd from Lesley University, and an MS in Environmental Science from Antioch College New England. She started her career in education and worked as a teacher, artist, and business owner before moving to the North Shore and discovering SSCW as a volunteer.

Alison Frye / Associate Director

Alison’s primary focus is on coastal resilience and habitat restoration projects. She earned a BS in Biology from Bates College and a MS in marine biology from Northeastern University. There, her research focused on nature-based solutions for climate adaptation, specifically utilizing living shorelines to mitigate erosion in the Great Marsh. Before coming to SSCW, Alison was a long-time science teacher and continues to teach a marine and climate science course to high school seniors at Waring School in Beverly. 

Nicole Frymier / School to Sea Director

Nicole brings a strong background in education and program coordination to her role as School to Sea Director. She is passionate about creating inclusive, hands-on learning experiences that connect students to their environment. Nicole has worked in both classroom and nonprofit settings, supporting youth development and environmental education. She holds a BS is Biology from Washington State University and an MA in Nonprofit Administration from Louisiana State University Shreveport. Nicole is excited to support Salem Sound Coast watch’s mission by fostering curiosity, confidence, and stewardship in young learners through marine science programming.

Susan Marsh / Community Engagement Manager

Susan manages events, outreach, and fundraising support through SSCW’s large and active volunteer community. She engages volunteers though activities that promote a hands-on understanding of our watershed. In addition, she supports development communications with our donors. Susan is a long-time Salem resident, former architect, and Salem Public School science teacher. She holds a MEd from Salem State University and a M.Arch from Tulane University.  Susan volunteered with SSCW for over 30 years before joining the staff. 

Anna Sheridan Headshot

Anna Sheridan / Program and Greenscapes  Coordinator

As the Program and Greenscape Coordinator, Anna provides outreach and education to North Shore communities on stormwater and water conservation. She holds a BS in Environmental Science from Albright College, with a minor in Marine and Aquatic Biology. Before joining SSCW, Anna worked with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation as a Shorebird Technician and a Planting Laborer for the Greening the Gateway Cities program. Her experience allows her to provide education and outreach to the North Shore in SSCW’s various programs. 

Suzi Jordan / Development Director

Suzi is a development professional with over 13 years of experience in fundraising across higher education and nonprofit sectors. As Development Director at Salem Sound Coastwatch, she leads strategic donor engagement, fundraising campaigns, donor relations, grant writing, corporate sponsorships, and events to support the organization’s mission. Suzi holds a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management with a Minor in Information Technology Management from Syracuse University.

Alex Borreil / School to Sea Educator

As an Educator for School to Sea, Alex brings in her experience and knowledge of outdoor marine science education. She holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and spent a collective 5 years in the Leeward Islands, The Bahamas, and the Turks and Caicos leading and creating field and classroom-based marine science courses for students. As a New England native, Alex’s background in environmental education and nonprofit work equips her to inspire and mentor our younger generation of students through SSCW’s programs.
