Salem, MA — On November 4th, students at Boston University, as part of Alpha Phi Omega, Zeta Upsilon chapter, worked with SSCW to cleanup a restricted access area next to a local National Grid plant. Our dedicated community partners made this cleanup possible, both by alerting us to the condition of this beach, and by allowing us to operate alongside their businesses and facilities.
We would like to thank National Grid for facilitating access to their beach, and Zeta Upsilon for collecting 180 pounds of trash and discarded items! We would also like to thank Bill & Bob’s Roast Beef for allowing us to operate on their property and for letting us leave the bags in their dumpster.
You act as the first line of defense against trash and marine debris across the Salem Sound and its watershed. We rely on community input to help us restore the land and sea to their full ecological health. If you know of an area that might need a cleanup, email or call us and we will work with you to find a solution.
