Field Experiences Outdoors
Salt Marsh Studies
In the marsh, student scientists collect data on the different organisms living in the marsh, measure the impact of erosion on the riverbanks, and learn to identify different species of vegetation.
Intertidal Explorations
In the tidepool, students are often introduced to Salem Sound’s marine biodiversity for the first time. Students will learn to identify and quantify many different native and invasive species.
Marine Study Cruise
Aboard the Finback, students cruise around Salem Sound, pull up a lobster trap to see what’s living on the sea floor, use an underwater camera to swim through eelgrass, and collect plankton for examination under a microscope.
Watershed Walks
Unique to your school or area, watershed walks help students explore their local surroundings in a more inquisitive and engaging way.
