Endicott College – Inundation District

April 9 @ 6:00 pm 8:00 pm

Please join us at Endicott College at the Clearly Lecture Hall for a showing of Inundation District, followed by a Q&A with film director David Abel. Inundation District is an informational film based on the Seaport District in Boston, otherwise known as the “Innovation District.” The film takes a hard look at rising tides and the impact on Seaport. This film explores the science behind climate change, feasible solutions, policy and legislative pushes, and the effects on vulnerable populations. Inundation District tells the story of Boston’s $20 billion investment into the Seaport area — on landfill, at sea level, with rising tides and increasing storm events as a result of climate change. The film also includes threads of environmental justice concerns, details about the design and engineering of the Seaport, and how businesses were attracted to a formerly undesirable location resulting in the booming Seaport we know today. Following the film will be a brief Q&A with the Pulitzer-prize winning reporter/producer, David Abel.

Salem Sound Coastwatch will be present with a table after the Q&A detailing the important work we are doing in our community to slow climate change and reverse its harmful impacts on the environment.

Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be provided. This event is open to the public! Childcare will be provided free of cost by certified volunteers. Please contact elacey@endicott.edu to reserve free childcare. Please also register for this event on Eventbrite.
