SUMMARY:Water Quality Monitoring - Training Session
DESCRIPTION:Help protect the health of Salem Sound this summer by joining our water quality monitoring program. Volunteers collect water samples from local streams and stormwater outfalls to identify sources of pollution before they reach our beaches. \n\n\n\nFor over three decades\, Salem Sound Coastwatch has partnered with local communities to track bacteria pollution and improve water quality. Your participation supports cleaner beaches\, safer swimming\, and healthier coastal ecosystems. \n\n\n\nVolunteers sample every two weeks from June through August\, with all samples analyzed for Enterococcus\, a key indicator of potential public health risk in marine waters. \n\n\n\nInterested in being a water quality tester this summer? Then join our training program on May 27th or 28th! No experience needed\, just a willingness to get involved. \n\n\n\nRegistration required: email Susan Marsh at susan.marsh@salemsound.org and indicate which day you plan to attend.
