SUMMARY:COASTSWEEP - Salem Collins Cove
DESCRIPTION:Join Salem Sound Coastwatch for a public COASTSWEEP at Collins Cove in Salem! \n\n\n\nEvery year from August to November volunteers in Massachusetts participate in a statewide beach cleanup sponsored by the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management (CZSM). COASTSWEEP is an international effort\, where volunteers around the world collect marine debris found along our coasts\, categorize\, and tally the information. Information helps us discover the sources of marine debris and help find solutions to the problem. \n\n\n\nWe will meet at Collins Cove beach on the corner of Webb Street and East Collins Street. \n\n\n\nPlease RSVP by sending an email to susan.marsh@salemsound.org or calling (978) 741-7900

SUMMARY:Marine Invasive Species Monitoring - Beverly Public Pier
DESCRIPTION:Join us to monitor marine invasive species! These creatures have been introduced to new locations by human activities and have damaging impacts on our local ecosystem. Salem Sound Coastwatch has monitored marine invasive species at docks\, in tidepools\, and along the rocky shore every summer for the past 20+ years with the help of community science volunteers. We are on the lookout for a variety of invasive crustaceans\, tunicates\, and seaweeds\, among others!   \n\n\n\nAs a founding member of the Marine Invader Monitoring and Information Collaborative (MIMIC)\, we share the data our volunteers collect with the MA Office of Coastal Zone Management\, who keeps track of the abundance of marine invaders along the North Atlantic coast.    \n\n\n\nNo experience necessary; SSCW staff will help you identify the species we’re on the lookout for. We recommend wearing sturdy shoes that can get wet.  \n\n\n\nRSVP to barbara.warren@salemsound.org or call us at (978) 741-7900.  \n\n\n\nFree public parking is available in the Mission Boathouse restaurant parking lot. Meet at the public pier in front of the Harbormaster’s Office.  \n\n\n\n1 Water Street  \n\n\n\nBeverly\, MA
