OFFERINGS FOR EDUCATORS AND SCHOOLS

Ideally, children connect what they are doing in the classroom to the world around them. Our programs are student-centered and place-based and help expand your teaching into the community in which your children live. While active participation is required of all adult participants (teachers, parent chaperones), the focus is on discovery: allowing children to explore, collect information, and construct meaning based on their observations.

All of our school programs use the Ocean Literacy Framework standards (developed by National Marine Educators Association) and are linked to the Massachusetts Science and Technology/Engineering Framework for Teaching.

Pick and choose what works best for you. We offer a variety of programs, including classroom activities, field experiences, and boat-based excursions, that focus on the land and water, natural ecosystems and human impacts on Salem Sound.

Perhaps your students would benefit from the continuity of a Salem Sound Coastwatch educator to deliver all 3 parts of a program. Maybe you feel comfortable taking students outside around your school and would like to extend this learning by bringing them on the boat trip only. Please browse our program listings below, and contact us to book a program. Let us know if you would like us to design a program that fits your specific curricular needs.
