Winter Island Access Points

Winter Island Park provideds two areas to launch kayaks. The yellow pin marks ths South entrance, which is located directly off the main parking lot. The red pin marks Waikiki Beach, which is located west of the main parking lot.

 

Winter Island Park is a public park owned by the City of Salem. Camping is allowed on the island from May 1 through November 1, but reservations should be made in advance. Please check out entrance fees and regulations at this website or the City's website.

 

Waikiki Beach

The sandy Waikiki Beach is accessed by a sidewalk northeast of the main parking area. Restrooms are open in season.

 

Winter Island South Access Area

Many people put in their kayaks from this cobble beach (yellow pin on the google image) just off the main parking lot. The City of Salem has kayak rack space for rent.

 

Boat Ramp at Winter Island

Winter Island Park also has a large concrete boat ramp with docks on the southeast, inner harbor side of the island. Winter Island Park can be very busy on summer weekends.
